A new scheme of work aimed at KS3 Y7. This unit of work will be a Chronology of Monotheism. Starting with Genesis, moving through Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Each religion will cover Key religious figures, information on their holy book and a rite of passage/religious practice. Muhammad and the role of women- A lesson that looks at Muhammad’s wives- Khaijah and Aisha, and how Muhammad changed the role of women in Islam. Worksheet and resource sheet to support a 6 mark exam question.

Muhammad and Revelation- the first of two lessons where we look at why Muhammad was chosen by Allah to reveal the Qur’an. The emphasis is on Muhammad as a person, a Qur’an lesson is covered later in the unit. Worksheets are at the end of the powerpoint.

Baptism: An introduction to the concept of the 7 sacraments. The lesson then looks at the difference between infant and believer baptism. Considering why someone would choose to baptise their child. Main activity encourages students to write aletter of advice to a pregnant woman considering baptism for her child. There is some further reading to encourage challenge and literacy development.

Christian Denominations: Looking at how Christianity split and became different denominations. Using chocolate and football analogies. Students complete a market place activity to look at the different denominations and then complete a fact file.

The Bible: An introduction to the Bible, looking at the Old and New Testament in a video and gap filler. Students then look at the different ways the Bible can be interpretted- liberal and literal. They consider other sources of authority that may provide more guidance in the modern day (prayer, visiting church, listening to their conscience). Students then pretend to ring into This Morning to answer a phone in question regarding if the Bible is out of date.

L2: Noah- looking at what covenant means, why Noah was chosen and ending with a newspaper article task with differentiated support.
A lesson for KS4/GCSE Social Justice AQA theme, but suitable for Citizenship/PSHE lessons as there is no R.E content. This is a lesson based on evidencing Sexism in the UK. The follow up lesson will look at the role of women in the Church.
KS3 (Y8) lesson looking at the nature of God and how moral evil (the Holocaust) may prevent people from believing in God. It does a recap of the inconsistent triad, and discusses free will. Students then complete a 6 mark exam style question (based on AQA 12 mark questions, developing these skills.)
A KS3 lesson in which students consider the nature of God. Looking at the omni words. Students complete a reference for God to be given the job of steward of the world.
A KS3 (Y7) lesson looking at Muslim beliefs in Akirah. Students complete a market place activity based on Paradise, Hell, Barzakh and the day of judgement. They then use this to complete a 6 mark exam question (developing skills for an AQA 12 mark question).
Everything you need to revise for the AQA exam. These are revision power points, with exam practice questions and templates at the end. Suitable for VLE’s, students who have missed sections of the course/working in inclusion buildings etc. I plan on using them to help students complete revision clocks.

This is a resource I will be using to give students alongside their mock exam paper (AQA but easily adapted for other exam boards). The top of the proforma is for students to analyse the questions of the themes paper. There is then a PLC for the whole exam- including Christianity, Islam, Themes B, D, E and F. This will be used for the mock feedback lesson before class revision begins.
